RN rendered ineffective in the workplace

Nurses, have you ever been hired into a new position in which it was difficult for you to delegate? Not because the unlicensed personnel were incapable of handling the allotted tasks, but because the nurses who have worked there for years allowed the unlicensed personnel to do the minimum required. How did you deal with this situation? Did you refer to The Nurse Practice Act or a similar document for advice? Do you feel that legal intervention would help in this situation? Or did you analyze the situation to mean that the underlying structure of the organization was one counterproductive to fairness in the work place?
